Do I have a legal right to have a garage of my chosing look at damage caused to other car?

I bumped a car while parking and caused a minor scrap to their bumper nothing worth going near insurance for, but i am worried however that the owner of the car will try and rip me of for the repairs done through his local garage / friend in a shed. So my question is;

Do I have a legal right (in the uk) to have a garage of my chosing look at damage caused to the other car in order to give me a quote on how much the repair should cost, before i pay out for the damage?
I’m trying to handle this out of pocket as insurance over here is a rip off ($2000 per year for a very basic car) and i don’t want to lose 3 years on claims over the head of a scrap about 1 inch long. Personal injury should not come into it as the owner of the other car was not in it. Rental / lost of earnings could cause a problem and i might have to let him go through my insurance if they want that. Thanks for all your comments

Typically, one would request more than one (usually three) estimate of damage . . . By having more than one estimate, it allows you to see the high and low end of repair and usually you can then decide with the other person involved based on the estimates, what will be paid out for repairs. However if you do pay out of pocket, make sure that you DO NOT PAY CASH, get a receipt, and on the receipt make sure that you write down PAID IN FULL and have them sign it. Good Luck!

Want to make a shed for gym but HOW?

I want to make a shed (8×8 sized room) in our back garden so I can have it like a small gym.

I want to build that myself. Argos sells ready made sheds so I’m going to buy one of those.

But how do I get the pavement done?

I have NO DIY Skills but think I can manage paving the blocks for floor.

Could I just put the shed from Argos directly on top of the pavement base that I created or does the pavement need plastering??

Any serious personal guidance without any advert links would be great. thanks.

ARGOS has shed bases available.A few hand tools, follow directions, you can do it.

Please dont list just-sheds.com they have ONE shed that looks like an out house.

How can I start a compost heap without a garden? I have a small balcony…?

I don’t want to spend much money… and i dont have much room. I would rather not have one of those indoor composting things due to lack of space and storage…
For those who asked… i dont have a garden, but i do have quite a few potted plants etc on my balcony and im always in need of compost!

You can create compost on just about any scale. A mixture of kitchen waste, greens only!!! no meat !!! and some shreded newspaper for browns, toss a little starter dirt in and it will decay and produce "black gold’> Any plastic container will do. A trash can, a rubbernaid container etc. The mix should be moist but not soaking wet. Cricital mass to achive the proper heat for compost piles is rather large and you will not achive it on your balcony, but go for it anyway, mix it, stir it and let it rot. Makes the best plant food on earth !!!!

Great stuff to put in the tub includes all green matter, cooked or trimmings, coffee grounds, paper goods ( avoid the heavy inked color pieces) ohh..and add a few worms…lol…let them help if the temps don’t kill em off
